It lowers the incentive for businesses to try to &quot;trick&quot; the search engines into providing better rankings and raises incentives for them to focus on more important metrics than simply rankings.

Rankings are a means to an end. The more they are used to build traffic that converts instead of merely rankings taken in isolation, the more valuable SEO will be.</description>
