So many are trying to figure how to get to the top in google maps. Since google maps have taken over, we have not really had any reason to have our site up high in google web results. Now we have to put our attention towards google maps instead of our site. I can see where this is helpful for new businesses or ones without a website but it is not helpful for established business owners that have spent years of their time consentrating on their websites. ;( I do not in the least like this new google aspect but I am glad to actually come across some actual information on how to get your listing higher. Thanks for the information. I am grateful.

Thanks for the advice. I have noticed that my business listing is no where near the top of google maps. I have been looking into how to get my listing to show in results but so many people are saying that reviews are where it is at. Obviously that is not the case because the ones listed before have no reviews. I will follow your guidelines to see where it takes me. Thanks for the information.

I find that reviews definitely make no difference in google maps but does help when a client is choosing which place to go with. The advice you give is very helpful and I thank you for the information. I have been lost when it has come to the listings since they seem to change often in my category.

George, Great post! Just found you. Got you on my radar now. I love that you pointed out to spend lots of time on the business description. Not enough SMB's do this. It is like writing a great headline that still contains ALL your major keywords. It's an art form and SMB's need to spend more time on it getting just right.

You hit all the major points on getting your G-Maps listing in the 7-Pack. Great work! Got you on my RSS now and look forward to reading more of your posts.

You are right, this is huge for any organization where local search results are important, large or small.

For the first time ever (that I can remember) we have direct control of much of an organic search listing - discriptions, photos, video etc

Great article!
Im just starting to work on maps for my bureau - it seems that this is the way to go for small local business!
love the thing about blended search! WOW that will change in a way that we cant imagine!!
I think the future SEO/SEM specialist will have to adapt for this change and be more versatile!
Nerdy programmers watch out!!
