49 Local Search Ranking Factors Rated by Importance

In David Mihm’s “Local Search Ranking Factors” article he compiled the results of a survey of 27 folks who work on local search. In it you’ll find:

41 positive ranking factors ranked by relative importance

8 negative factors that can hurt your rankings in Google (Maps) and Yahoo local search results.

 

It’s from last May, but most of the factors are still valid.

Follow these guidelines and you’ll have a decent chance of getting your Google local search results to appear in a 7-pack, 3-pack, etc in Google’s main search results.
