Google PageRank & Toolbar PageRank: Simplified

Here’s a post at Search Engine Watch about Google’s Toolbar PageRank. William Flaiz does a good job of explaining why the Toolbar PageRank should be taken with a very large grain of salt. We use it as just one of the indicators we examine to gage the linking position or a page or site. It’s always out of date so we consider the Toolbar PageRank as an approximate indicator vs. a client’s competition. More importantly if the PageRank is zero it’s is an indictor of possible trouble (such as a penalty or the majority of incoming links being devalued for some reason, a technical issue, etc) that needs to be looked at further
